#2 - What's in the name?

I bet many of you are wondering why I chose to name this blog “Raven Vexation”.

We’ll let’s look at the term “raven”:

Entries found for raven.

Main Entry: black
Part of Speech: adjective 1
Definition: dark
Synonyms: clouded, ebony, melanoid, murky, nigrescent, raven, shadowy, somber

As with most synonyms for the word Black, there is a negative, ominous connotation to it. Words like shadowy, murky are befitting for the tone of this blog. My identity is secret. Terms like clouded and somber express some of the emotions that I feel. I’m confused. I’m lonely. Ebony, melanoid and nigrescent have racial overtones. And as for as racial identity goes, I prefer the term Black over African American. That covers the “Raven” part.

Let’s look at “Vexation”:

Entries found for vexation.

Main Entry: displeasure
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: unhappiness
Synonyms: anger, annoyance, aversion, disapproval, discontentment, disfavor, disgruntlement, disinclination, dislike, dissatisfaction, frustration, incensement, indignation, indisposition, irritation, offense, resentment, vexation, wrath

Shit, I couldn’t say it any better myself. I’m all those things. When it comes to women…to relationships, I’m vexed like a mutha fucker.
